Spend A Day At Captain's Cove Seaport

If you're looking to have some fun near The Mark apartments, head to Captain's Cove Seaport. Located on historic Black Rock Harbor, it's an active maritime and amusement center that welcomes thousands of visitors each year.

Captain's Cove Seaport was a weed filled vacant lot until 1982, when Kaye Williams, a former fisherman and lobsterman and his wife turned it into what is now one of Connecticut's top tourist attractions. Some of what you can see and do includes:

Maritime Museum - Located inside a Queen Anne Style Victorian house that dates back to 1893, this museum houses the "Bridgeport on Sound" exhibit. It features artifacts, models, and photographs that relate to Bridgeport Harbor, Black Rock Harbor, and the state's oyster industry.

Salt Addict Fishing Charters - Cast a line during a half day, full day, or nighttime fishing charter. According to Salt Addict's website, it's located in one of the best fishing locations in the north east and you may catch fish such as black sea bass, striped bass, and summer flounder.

Scuba Diving - Whether you know how to scuba dive or want to learn, visit Orbit Marine. It operates two boats out of Captain Cove Marina, and you will see marine life such as moon snails, sea anemones, lobsters, and oysters.

The Wigwam - This shop features Native American gemstone jewelry, handmade dreamcatchers, and hand-beaded necklaces that make for great gifts.

Seaport Sundae School - If you want a sweet treat, stop by Seaport Sundae School. Its menu includes banana splits, hot fudge sundaes, frozen yogurt, and more.
